Resolution Copper Renews Long-Standing Partnership with Arizona Trail Association
Resolution Copper Mining has renewed its partnership with the Arizona Trail Association (ATA) for another five years. The trail, which traverses 800 miles of the state, is prized for its beauty, history, ecology and geologic diversity. Since the two organizations began working together in 2005, Resolution Copper employees have volunteered to construct key sections of the trail near the Copper Triangle region.
Recently, the ATA embarked on a Gateways Communities campaign. This campaign aims to encourage a sense of ownership and, ultimately, promote trail use among those who live in the 19 communities near the trail. Superior will be one of the first Arizona Trail Communities. As part of its support of the overall project, Resolution Copper will help support construction of a six-mile connector trail linking Superior with the Tonto National Forest.
"Thanks to Resolution Copper's support, the Copper Butte area has become a popular, well-used community asset," says Dave Hicks, executive director of ATA. “With the company's continued support, hikers, bikers, equestrians and photographers in the Superior area will benefit from easy access to this naturally beautiful area."

Arizona Trail Highlights:
- The trail is approximately 817 miles with only 37 miles left to build. The trail should be completed in time for the Arizona Centennial on February 14, 2012.
- This year, the Arizona Trail was designated a National Scenic Trail, one of only 11 such trails in the United States.
- As new trail construction work winds down, the ATA will increase its emphasis on preserving and protecting the trail, maintaining remote areas and rerouting several stretches of older trail.
