Partnering for Success
Resolution Copper's partnerships enable us to offer unique solutions to challenges in the areas of environmental, economic and social well-being. Whether sponsoring an after-school environmental club for Superior students or supporting regional economic development, we view partnerships as an integral part of the way we work within the community.
Progress is made possible by partnering with the following civic, environmental, educational, regional and state organizations:

Audubon Arizona

RCM and Audubon Arizona partner on initiatives to support bird conservation and environmental education across Arizona. This includes designation of Important Bird Areas, areas that have tremendous value to birds for wintering, foraging, or nesting.

Arizona State University (ASU)

In partnership with Resolution Copper, ASU has developed and delivered a Life Sciences program to Superior Junior High School. For the past three years, students have received lab and classroom instruction in life and physical sciences. They create reports and work demonstrations with guidance from ASU staff members. To supplement this program, we sponsor a trip for these students to attend the Arizona Science Fair in Phoenix to showcase their talents in science and engineering.

Arizona Trail Association

From 2005 to 2009, Resolution Copper and the Arizona Trail Association partnered on the Copper Butte Project, developing one of the last unfinished sections of 800-mile trail that connects the state’s north and south borders. In 2010, the company renewed its partnership with the ATA for another five years with a focus on the ATA’s new Gateways Communities program, a campaign to encourage a sense of ownership and promote trail use among the 19 communities near the trail.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum

Resolution Copper’s partnership with Boyce Thompson Arboretum (BTA) includes financial and human resources support. The partnership enables students to visit the arboretum every year and includes an annual International Migratory Bird Day celebration. A further partnership between the BTA, RCM and John F. Kennedy Elementary allows area students to participate in the Nature Club after-school program, where they experience the beauty and diversity of their local environment.

The Nature Conservancy

RCM and The Nature Conservancy partner to manage 7B Ranch, which will be given to the federal government as part of proposed land exchange. As partners, we also consult and collaborate with private landowners on conservation issues affecting the Lower San Pedro River.

Town of Superior

RCM partners with the Town of Superior in a number of ways that positively impact community development and economic diversification. RCM employees also volunteer their time to support local initiatives.

University of Arizona (U of A)

Resolution Copper provides support for graduate student tuition and for mine design and geomechanics classes. RCM staff serve as guest lecturers and host Resolution Copper site tours for mining engineering students. The company and the university also collaborate on Mine Rescue Team training and on projects with team members in the Soil, Water and Environmental Sciences. Resolution Copper’s president serves on the Industry Advisory Board for the university’s College of Mining and Geological Engineering. RCM also works in concert with the university on internships, scholarships and recruitment opportunities.
Resolution Copper has also joined 14 other mining companies, the Science Foundation Arizona and the University of Arizona (UA) in a $17.5 million partnership to find ways of making mining safer, more productive and more sustainable.

The Rodel Foundation

In 2009, Resolution Copper sponsored the Math Achievement Club (MAC-Ro) at Superior's John F. Kennedy Elementary School. The MAC-Ro program is an initiative of the Rodel Charitable Foundation of Arizona. The program provides a fun, motivating structure for learning mathematics and it has a proven track record of raising the math achievement of elementary school students.

Resolution Copper sponsors registration fees for Superior Junior-Senior High School and Alchesay High School (White River) to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition, an international competition that teams professionals and students to solve engineering design programs. Our expert staff also serve as mentors.
