Tailings Management

It was our goal during 2007 to continue to study old mining sites and open pits near Superior to identify the best location for the mill operations and tailings management. We had hoped to reduce the number of sites under study and home in on the best alternative. We have been unable to achieve this goal, because we were unable to gain access to lands where potential sites exist. However, we made significant progress in our research of potential tailings alternatives and design considerations. While we completed technical evaluations of both greenfield and brownfield alternatives, we now focus on brownfield sites (i.e., sites already impacted by previous mining operations) primarily in Pinto Valley and the Miami/Globe area of Arizona. Once our mining operations have filled the old mine pits with new tailings, we can rehabilitate and re-green historically impacted lands.
