Corporate Philanthropy

Resolution Copper Mining gives back to its host communities and supports them in ways that improve long-term quality of life. Funds are strategically targeted toward issues the community has identified as important, using the findings from our baseline polls, needs assessments, community surveys and community committees. While there is a slight overlap between strategic partnerships and community outreach, we have established giving guidelines for both. We ensure that we fund projects and causes that support the missions of both Rio Tinto and Resolution Copper Mining.

A process is in place to consider and select donations recipients based on established guidelines. The company periodically re-evaluates funding priorities and strategic partnerships. New guidelines and a downloadable Request for Funding form were added to our website early in 2008.

Following is a sampling of 2007 direct contribution recipients.
