Community Engagement

In 2007 we hosted a number of community forums with residents of the Copper Triangle, and met with other interested stakeholder groups including climbers and non-government organizations focused on environmental sustainability.

Resolution Copper Mining personnel were also active in programs focused on advancing economic development in the Copper Triangle region. These included Superior-based programs to make the Queen Creek Trail a widely used recreation source, and to expand wireless capabilities for local businesses and residents. In 2008 we will concentrate on broader regional economic strategies in partnership with the Arizona Department of Commerce and local economic development groups.

Resolution Copper Mining and its partner, BHP, formed a working group with environmental organizations and government agencies to look for thoughtful approaches to sustainable land use along the Lower San Pedro River. For example, the group has designated technical representatives to do further fact-finding on water management and is also exploring sustainable housing development options.
