Other Concerns and Complaints

The San Carlos Apache Tribe has expressed concern about the cultural impact on Apache Leap and the potential for damage to the area through the company’s mining operations. Although several attempts were made to open a dialogue with the Tribe, no direct discussion took place between the company and the Tribe in 2007.

The company has placed provisions in the land exchange legislation to ensure the protection of Apache Leap and we hope to engage directly and productively with concerned Tribe members.

Of the five community complaints recorded in 2007, all received direct responses. The company conducted internal investigations and then followed up directly or by telephone with residents concerned about suspect noise and dust. Resolution Copper Mining personnel also hosted members of Maricopa Audubon Society who have voiced opposition to the Resolution Project, providing a site tour and responding to questions and concerns about the proposed development.
